Huntington Medical Foundation’s Clinical Research program, established in 2004, was designed to complement our quality medical care. By offering and evaluating more effective treatments, we strive to raise the standard of care available for our patients and future generations. As a means of advancing the practice of medical care and improving health outcomes, HMF engages in FDA-approved clinical research studies. Our practicing physicians serve as the investigators in these studies, bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. We strive to improve the patient’s quality of life by assisting them in understanding their disease process. Patients participating in these studies are able to expand their treatment options allowing them to better manage their disease and future healthcare.
Why participate in a clinical study?
Our patients participate in our studies for many reasons. Being in a study allows them access to promising treatments before they become available to the general public. They receive careful, additional medical attention and gain much knowledge about their health and how to care better for themselves. The examinations, medications and/or equipment they receive are at no cost; and often, there is some compensation for their time and travel. In addition, they like the idea that they are contributing to medical science.
In what areas are studies currently being done?
- Osteoporosis
- Heartburn (GERD)
- Rosacea
- Psoriasis
- Hypertension for patients with Diabetes
