New office for pediatricians and specialists

The pediatricians and specialists at HMF’s 47 Congress St. office are moving to new space at 55 East California Blvd. and will start seeing patients on May 17. (Some specialists will relocate in mid-June.)

Specialists from other HMF offices will move to the new office in June. Although the previous tenant used the 10,000 square foot space for medical offices, HMF spent months upgrading the space to better serve patient needs. Approximately 40% of the floor plan will be used by pediatrics, and the rest for specialists and special services, including the HMF Bone Density Testing Center.

Thanks to the imagination of artist Valerie Johnson, young patients will spot three-dimensional monkeys, elephants, giraffes, toucans and other wild animals in a colorful jungle mural in the pediatrics waiting room. The jungle theme is carried out throughout the pediatrics office.

A 1989 Art Center graduate, Johnson has created murals for residences, schools, churches, and for other healthcare venues, including Cedars-Sinai. In addition, her work has been exhibited at galleries and in shows throughout the Los Angeles area.

The specialists’ suite merits something special as well. British artist Shelley Cassidy is using rich colors to create a mural of soothing scenes from the Italian countryside.

Cassidy was “discovered” by HMF through work she did for Trader Joe’s. Her murals have appeared on the interiors and exteriors of many stores and other businesses throughout Los Angeles. In fact, you can see her art in the Bradley Terminal at the Los Angeles International airport.

Feel free to drop in for a look at the murals even if you don’t have an appointment!
